Actually the cheapest and fastest-growing source of wood-like fiber is hemp but thanks to paranoid anti-marijuana forces who think you can smoke it (you'd just get a headache if you tried) it's illegal. Hemp would save forests, big-time and satisfy many of our needs. People call Woody Harrelson whacky and maybe he is a little bit but he's also right.
