i like the pay-it-forward concept too.
i'm sure the idea is as old as life.

i remember back in my college daze when
a hippie friend invited some of us over
to his apartment for dinner (beans).
someone mentioned a reciprocal dinner
sometime in the future, which prompted
him to tell us his "law of returning
sandwiches".

he said, "don't pay me back, pass it
on to someone else. when you're out on
the streets broke and some cat lays a
sandwich on you, you can't always pay
him back, you might not ever see him
again. what you do is YOU lay a sandwich
on some other broke cat someday when you
have some bread. and then that cat lays
a sandwich on some other cat, and it goes
on and on and on."

(YES, we used to talk like beatnicks
when we were hippies) <G>

ps- i also like to pay people back
directly (with interest) but as to
others paying me - i like them to pay
it forward.
