My guess is that it will be largely based off of the Athlon core, and the performance improvements will only show up with x86-64, which requires specific software support. And AMD continues to rely on the failed "Build it and they will come" philosophy of getting software support.

Wouldn't it be curtains for AMD then? All the AMDers are hailing the Hammer as the next salvation.
