OT: Public Service announcement.I strongly recommend this weeks Newsweek that has McCann on the cover showing his surgery(his temple scar is just like mine but i skipped the SNB exploratotory so i don't go beyond the temple scar) and leads to a feature on skin cancer, but most importantly to concentrate on the super killer,Malignant Melanoma.Read this issue, and especially if you are fair skinned(when not trying to be tan:) as you are a much higher risk..
MM is spreading at an ever increasing rate, and a matter of just a couple millimeters can seperate you from full cure or being dead within months.
No cancer, this extremely agressivemis more avoidable via EARLY detection.
I was very fortunate to dodge a killer bullet.
My depth was 2.1mm,which placed me at stage II--and with other factors,my prognosis of no further problem from that event is 95%---and that is neat.
But if i had waited just another month it could easily have gone to 4.0mm,and my prognosis would be getting far far slimmer.
And if you get the melonoma in what is called "in situ" your prognosis is 100% to the good,no problem.
Maureen Regan's melanoma was 3.8mm.
I have just come from my doctors, and we will be removing a couple of what are called Dysplastic Nevi(as they have melanoma potential but are not melanomas).
Read the article.MM is a super killer that can be stopped in it's tracks if gotten early.Sorry for being preachy--but after you dodge a bullet, you want others to be aware. Thanks,Max
