Wanna_bmw, I don't think the Amd guys are saying that the P4 is a dog. I am sure they realize as I do that at 2Ghz+, the P4 is a major threat. They are saying that the 1.3 thru 1.7 is not as fast as its clock speed indicates and it actually can underperform much lower clocked Athlons in many applications. Unfortunately for AMD as the P4's clockspeed increases the fact the Athlon has a higher IPC becomes mute unless the Athlon keeps up in frequency increases. My personal preference as of 8/2001 is still the Athlon. Intel has not convinced me that I need to buy a P4 yet. If anyone asks me for a cpu recommendation I'd recommend the Athlon over any current P4 offerings.

p.s. Had a 99 M Coupe, currently driving an '01 740i. The M was the most fun car i've ever driven.

BMW,
RE:"My screen name was thought up because of lack of a better name. I like BMW, but I also like Audi and Mercedes. Which BMW cars have you owned before?"

Were you on SI before? What was your name then?
