GV,
Hi!!

RE: I doubt we'll be seeing a retraction from those experts, either.

The quality of a person should include their admitting of mistakes...RELee supposedly said following his observance of Pickett's Charge: "It's all my fault"...As a child I gained a great deal of admiration for him when I read that...Everyone errs...Yet, we don't hear analysts talking of long term possibilities...Notice the questioning still in this link: Michael discussed this same scenario over two years ago...A few of us exchanged opinions of it then...Due to this economic situation virtually everyone I know is off on their previous guesses...Yet, Michael's goal hasn't really changed...I would love to know from any analyst how they see anyone defeating DELL before they go out of business...DELL's first loss here this quarter is a fragment of what the others are losing at DELL's expense...GTW is withdrawing from Europe; HWP isn't competing at the margin level (Michael sell ink and they're done!); CPQ lost $670 million last year alone (a far greater % than what IBM with $86Billion in sales was losing at $900m+ in past years)...And, we all know that IBM is really done...GV, isn't it really over? And, if the others can't exist won't DELL get the lion's share? How can these analysts ignore the financial facts? Say he can't do it? Well, it's like asking Ted Williams if he can hit .230 for the year...
