It isn't as if the microprocessor industry is any different or less ethical than any other business.

I remember the words of J. Ira Harris, one of the great investment bankers of the 80's and 90's, and one of the few that had a rather good reputation for ethics. The subject of fairness opinions had come up. One rather junior associate was concerned that the hostile bid for a company was way too lowball for a reputable investment bank to give it a fairness opinion, always a legal requirement for any deal, especially a hostile deal.

"You got a million dollars, we got a fairness opinion."

He was only being modestly sarcastic, and he understated his fee, but he got his message across.
