If a company provides no guidance for upcoming quarter? Isn't that a warning in itself?

Even if a company provides no guidance, analysts make up some figures anyway (be they picked out of thin air OR, more likely, backed up with research). There's a consensus revenue estimate and one for EPS. My guess is that if a company is not going to be in the ballpark for those numbers, they would want to announce that earlier rather than later, to "save face" in some small way. So yes, I think they could warn.
