Hi Charles. If I had a 5 cents on the dollar for what I've left on the table since the mid 1980s by selling to early, couldn't even guess what my total assets would be by now.<G> IMO it's bound to happen occasionally. All any of us can do is try to minimize the problem. What I've tried to do is sell after a top is confirmed. That way, I'll give back only a small %age in exchange for some assurance that "it's time". Same with bottoms. You'll notice all my major sector calls are like that. Like I told Bobby Bear a few weeks ago, on the old thread. Trying to catch an exact hi or lo is really knife catching. The pros who taught me gave ample evidence to convince me it's a lot wiser to get confirmation. Until the bottom is confirmed, the market is highly likely to wip saw you around till you are stopped out of a position that will later run beautifully once the bottom is complete. Part of the problem early on, for me, was that as a broker with a major house in the 70s and early 80s - I got paid to take clients profits as quickly as they were comfortable with! W.S. incentive system is all wrong. Brokers should be compensated for helping their clients let their profits run. But alas not holding my breath on that one. Welcome to our new, improved home.
