John,

One of these days this market will really rally. And people with CC's will be miserable, and forget the good days when they pocketed cash at the expense of the bulls.

You could be right, always that possibility, but right now I doubt it. The strategies here are remarkably careful ones. I would expect some losses, but not large ones. More likely folk will just quit writing ccs until the market direction gets a little clearer. And some of us, IRA rules permitting, will start buying calls. And, best of all, cheering our stocks on.

John

Great post...

It seems like it is just human nature to develop a blind spot to the risks associated with a strategy that works month after month. Looking at Qualcomm reminds me that even during an absolutely miserable past year, it went from 63 to 107 in about 6 weeks (Nov. to mid Dec.). This would have hurt pretty bad if I had been selling covered calls...

I think that the thread has been pretty good at examining the various covered call strategies...but their hasnt been much opportunity for analysis of repair strategies. I would be pretty surprised if the same thing will be able to be said six months from now.

Just my two cents....
