MSFT downside is too great ...

if the DOJ ever enforces antitrust law ... look out below. And Linux, while it may NEVER take over the desktop, is positioned to beat Bill at his own game with a twist. Offer software cheaper (i.e. "FREE") -- here's the twist -- AND better. Linux is attacking the world from the high (supercomputer) end, the middle (set top box ... I love my TiVo ... can you say "Linux"?) and the low (embedded chip) end. It could be the death of a thousand cuts for Mr. Softie. Once people get a taste of an OS that doesn't crash ... they may be hooked.

It isn't that Linux is more robust or reliable. It's a better METHOD of writing software.

I don't see the world in win/lose terms like Bill Gates. It's not a game of Risk. You don't have to destroy the competition to "win". I really think Bill has a mental disorder and I can't ethically or morally invest in a corporation that (in my opinion) makes it a common practice to lie, deceive and make a mockery of our laws.

But that's just me.

Their two year chart isn't very impressive either.

I find the MSFT vs. the world debate interesting. Definitely a religious war.

Don't forget. I'm a HUGE Excel fan. Now port it to Linux. Give people a choice.

Best of luck.

IDG says that 9% of year 2002 IT budgets will be Linux. I wonder where all that money is spent.
