Yep,

And you add

1) people don't buy in front of imminent technology change (AMD-Palomino desktop and Intel-P4 socket change and memory type change)

2) people don't buy just before announced imminent price cut (by Intel but should carry to AMD too)

3) people don't buy just before a major MS windows releases.

4) People don't buy expensive computer when market has dumped to them cheap but very good performing computer.
