Bears assist in launch of Walter Payton/Wilson NFL commemorative football program August 8, 2001 LAKE FOREST, IL -The Chicago Bears, in association with Game Time Productions, announce the launch of the official Walter Payton/Wilson NFL Commemorative Football Program. Game Time Productions and Wilson Sporting Goods have created the Walter Payton/Wilson Official NFL football. The limited edition series of 16,726 footballs was created to pay tribute to Walter Payton and help support the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. A portion of the sales of each ball will be donated to the Walter Payton Cancer Fund. Each ball is individually numbered to represent one ball for each yard of Payton's all-time career rushing record. The ball features an action photo of Payton on one panel and the facsimile of Payton's signature, the No. 34 and Payton embossed into the leather on another panel.
