Poet - To make sure that we are talking not just basically about the same thing but about exactly the same thing can you define what precisely you mena by homophobia?

Or maybe isnstead we should talk about insulting homsexuals because whatever the reasons that is what was done and what you comdemn and say everyone else should condemn.

You then say that anyone who insults homosexuals hates or fears homsexuals (is homophobic). That is probably not true if you mean literally everyone but because the vast majority of people who reguarly make such insults directed at homosexuals as a group probably do so out of hate or fear or some similar emotion its not a totally unreasonable claim.

Then you go beyond that and say that everyone who doesn't speak up about this hates or fears homosexuals. That just doesn't make sense. There are any number of reasons for them not speaking up. They may have missed the post. They may not see the comment as insulting (and in this opinion they could be either correct or incorrect). They may have replied to an earlier comment and they don't want to join a flame war against the person who made the comment. They may have seen a couple of other people condemn the comment and don't think it warrents pileing on. They may just be lazy. They might be meek and not want to challange someone. They may see the comment as being an insult but being a real minor one and not worth making a big deal about. And there could be other reasons. But you maintain that they have to be homophobes. By this I believe you mean that anyone who doesn't respond negatively to such an insult has to be a person who hates or fears homosexuals. IMO that is nonsense.

Would you apply this in other areas? If someone posts something insulting about black people and someone doesn't call him on it does that mean the silent person is a racist? Or lets get more specific. Does the fact that I didn't jump in to the flame war between you and Jallen mean that I hate and or fear both of you?
