Touche, Nicole. One can never predict the future.

There's a a lot of very ugly economic indicators out there right now, though. In 1998, US growth rate was an 'unsustainable' 6.5%. Not today.

I'm still happy to be on the sidelines, though if we hit a tradable bottom, I'll be more inclined to try it now.

i can find out,but if i see the ^VIX and ^VXN getting very high i will know the puts are getting very high and we are close to the bottom--the ^VIX and ^VXN be my prime measure for looking for tops and bottoms.I haven't checked ^VXN today--but i want to see it at least at 65 before i think of calling a bottom.PaxMax But,as you know,i am not day trading now so i making calls for what is well ahead.
