At a HUGE cost to the taxpayers of California because of sweetheart deals between an inept Governor guided by political hacks in the employ of the very companies whose mismanagement exacerbated the disaster.

Of course, those of us who don't live in areas served by the ought-to-be-bankrupt companies (at least 25% of Californians) will have the pleasure of paying for their resurrection for the next 20 years, or longer. Our state credit rating is impaired. Our budget is devastated. And I am supposed to bow down and give thanks to the great Gray Davis for finally doing something? Give me a break.

And no, it had nothing to do with Jeffords and everything to do with secret negotiations and long-term deals to purchase energy at rates up to 500% above the going rate.

Why don't you go tell Mayor Willie Brown to stop his employees from confiscating and destroying the homeless's belongings.
