I have no idea. I'm in California. You take a look at that. All I know is new England did have some brown-outs. I'm also from Boston originally and a friend's father was the #1 oil supplier there, a right-wing Cheney type who would probably go along with the gouging mentality. Was furious I remember that they weren't allowing more nuclear plants in New England. For what it's worth.

A friend of mine used to work for SCE. He's also worked on the Alaska Pipeline and is now an Electrical contractor. He explained the complexity of the electricity distribution and transmission system. I think there was a time not too long ago the their was a failure due to overload on the main north south lines and we were left to distribute regionally without benefit of any system. In addition we talked some about the gas pipelines and some of the restrictions on their efficiency. It reminded me of the explanation for freak waves in the middle of the ocean, strong patterns converging at a critical juncture.

That's cheap. We were charged 3800 MWH at the peak of our price gouging period.
