If someone bought and moved into your 3000 sq ft house, how did you make a net difference? Maybe the buyer used to live in a nice energy efficient apartment and your move actually netted MORE energy usage.

Did my part a long time ago by ditching the 3000 sq ft house and moving into a 1600 sq ft one.

Yeah amazing how much we waste. I waste a lot less than most people (recycling, reusing, wearing sweatshirts and using ceiling fans) but compared to most countries we really gobble it up. I think it's been proven by the present energy glut in California that conservation indeed can cure a big part of our problem. I'm willing to cut down to help the environment and if everyone else is too we solve both problems in one. One caveat to my attacks on the energy business. They had had a long period of slow growth in that business and they were ready to bust out once Bush-Cheney were running. Problem is, they bust out at our expense. And their attempt to wipe out environmental regulation when it comes to energy exploration is a move in the wrong direction. With enough public pressure they will end up compromising but this is where the hard bargaining begins and it's up to the American People to protect their environment and federal surplus. The foxes are in the hen house but they've stopped gorging for awhile. Still digesting from over-eating. But they'll be hungry again. Let's just make sure they don't also eat the goose which lays the golden eggs (our environment which sustains life).
