The market for chips (as far as Si real estate is concerned) is not contracting rapidly, the best estimate I have seen is 16% YOY, the much larger contraction in chip sales is due to a large decrease in ASP. Furthermore, more of the "fewer" chips that are being shipped are using CMP, and more CMP steps for each chip, thus sales from CCMP will be simply no growing, but, IMHO, will not decline markedly, certainly not the 50% to 70% declines suffered in some sectors of the equipment market. If you read AMAT rcent report, the part of their business which is doing pretty well is CMP, and if CMP is doing well, CCMP will do very well.
