I loved the Runaway Bunny and Goodnight Moon. Margaret Wise Brown was one of our favorite authors. She also wrote under the name Golden MacDonald. She wrote a book called Big Red Barn that my kids really loved, and the Little Island was another favorite. I think she might also have written The Important Book- but I can't remember.

One of the many things I had to do in my class on reading was to build a literature file- a notebook filled with summaries, lesson plans, and ideas for teaching across curriculum for at least 18 children's books in 9 genre. It was a lot of work, especially considering there were many other requirements for the class, but I think it was one of the most enjoyable assignments in a class I've ever done.

In a great green room, there was a telephone,
and a red balloon, and a picture of...

Oops, wrong book, but I think there may have been a picture of the Runaway Bunny in it.

Once there was a little bunny who wanted to run away,
so he said to his mother, "I am running away".

His mother said, "if you run away, I will run after you, for I am your mother".

My wife even read a biography of Margaret Wise Brown. She met a tragicomic end.

I think I set the record for repetitious reading with d1 in the 2's with Boyton and Moo, Bah, La La La.

Me: The Cow says Moo, the sheep says Bah,
three singing pigs say la la la
No no you say that isn't right
The pigs say oink all day and night
Rhinocerouses snort and snuff
and little dogs go ruff ruff ruff
Some other dogs go bow wow wow
Cats and kittens say meow
Quack says the duck
The horse says neigh
It's quiet now, what do you say?

D1: Again!

I think I counted past fifty one night when I was trying to wear her out.
