I am not too surprised. I doubt we will see a correction or an amplification. One of the advantages of the internet is the ability to read different sources of the news. The most revealing thing to me is the discovery that a huge majority of news outlets use the AP for national and international news. Few have the resources, or the inclination to report the news themselves. It is a powerful unintended monopoly.

In California, many of the news organizations, newspaper and broadcast, can't even provide their own stories on the activities of the state government.

On another note, I think immigration will prove to be an increasingly divisive issue in the Democratic Party. The black caucus and labor unions are long-time opponents of immigration and cross-border efforts such as NAFTA, while the Hispanic voter in contemporary Democratic politics is growing daily and will soon eclipse most of the old stand-bys.

That said, I am sorry to see many at the National Review are beginning to espouse nativism.
