What do you mean "secretly bearish"? Look at what the investors are doing. They still are hanging on to their stocks or stock funds, and the stock funds continue to have very low levels of cash.

Investment advisors i.e. newsletters are wildly bullish too. (Now, you can say that the newsletter writers have a vested interest to recommend stocks, so they will always be bullish, but wait, there will come a time when they start saying, "You can make a lot of money in bonds, and safely too!").

Sure, no one can predict the market. But if what we are seeing now is the bottom, then we are living in an upside down world.
