And funny how the energy crisis that brought Carter down, as well as the Iran Hostage Situation, suddenly ended as RR took office. Ever heard of the October Surprise? Deju vu all over again this last year? One thing we know, the oil industry sure loves the GOP, and by coincidence oil-man Bush Sr. was also the former head of the CIA. As if RR would have needed help in that area getting the job done in the Middle-East. One thing I always wondered too was how that hostage rescue mission could have gone so wrong? Something out of a Tom Clancy novel I know, but that's why Clancy's books are so good, they're realistic. Never under-estimate what the oil industry, CIA and certain right-wing factions of the military are capable of when properly motivated. I can't prove any of the above but I have always wondered. And this year did indeed give me a sense of deju vu. Everyone was waiting for Gore's October Surprise but it never came. Now we can see it was Bush who gave us the surprise, and it was already on-going months before October, a frightening energy crisis which succeeded in killing Gore's prosperity issue, enriched Bush and company and allowed them to tell us we needed them to "fix" the problem. When they in fact created the problem? Very likely, my friends.
