Yes oil/gasoline prices peaked right before Jeffords move. Have come down ever since. And yes OPEC can manipulate prices. So riddle me this? Who controls OPEC? Which two countries? Saudi and Kuwait? And who rescued them from Iraq nine years ago? Which four persons are most responsible? And is one of them now Vice President, another Secretary of State and a third the son of the former chief rescuer? And in that part of the world how do you pay back such enormous favors especially when it helps you too? Bush has already told us he will "work with OPEC" to keep gas prices high (but under $30)? So that proves he can and will manipulate prices with OPEC's cooperation? What makes you think it hasn't already been done starting the day OPEC was told Dick Cheney and Bush Jr. were in a close race and needed their help? Also, in terms of energy delivery to California who has a monopoly in all three top energy sources, gas, HG and electrity? And of those companies which ones are extremely close to the Bush-Cheney camp? Any one which isn't? Which Chief Counsel for Bush's Florida vote fight runs one of those companies? Which Bush Sr. best friend runs another? How many Bushites sit on the board of those companies? And when it comes in investigating the nine month gougathon what is the one body which can make the Justice Department prosecute their own friends and colleagues? The one body which switched parties on May 24, the date when oil/gas prices finally started going down? Free market? Oh really? Well then what a coincidence. Now think about who gains, who loses and then follow the money.
