The actual usable land of Japan is quite small compared to its total land mass. Too many mountains.

It's hard to imagine what it means to live in Japan. Worse than New York in some ways, better in others.

My own 1/3 acre suburban lot with fruit trees and tomato bed and 3000 sq ft Colonial is apparently unimaginable in Japan. As is the office townhouse my office is in, 10x15 ft. w/ receptionist, copy machine, coffee machine, fax machine, conference room, etc., for $600/mo.

Am I rich or am I poor? Honestly, I feel more rich than poor. Maybe that comes from growing up in the projects. For non-US readers, the projects are subsidized housing for poor people.
