QUATERRA RESOURCES INC. ("QTA-V;QURAF-L0") - Diamond Drilling To Commence At Union Bay Where Three New PGE Zones - Discovered
Diamond Drilling To Commence At Union Bay Where Three New PGE Zones Discovered

Quaterra Resources Inc. reported that enriched platinum group element (PGE) values now have been received from three additional recently discovered zones at the Union Bay PGE project in south-east Alaska.

The company said combined Pt & Pd values ranged up to 11.5 g/t, 8.8 g/t and 3.6 g/t from the Mt. Burnett (BMW) zone, and the newly discovered Cobra east and Cobra west zones, respectively (see attached map).

Quaterra said high-grade outcrop PGE mineralization now extends along two east-west corridors for a distance of 4.8 kilometres in the north corridor and 2.0 kilometres in the south corridor. Both remain open along strike with mineralization occurring over a vertical distance of at least 550 metres.

The company reported that drill permitting has been completed and diamond drill testing is scheduled to commence before the end of August.

Several zones will be tested with primary targets located along the discovery or "North" zone where several 17.0 - 19.0 g/t Pt samples have been received from along 400 metres of strike length, and the new Mt. Burnett zone which has a current strike length of 750 metres. Although local geologic controls vary, PGE mineralization is believed to be controlled by project-scale east-west features or corridors.

Because the magmatic units comprising the Union Bay lopolith also generally strike in an east-west direction, exploration to date suggests that platinum-palladium mineralization occurs in one or more stratiform layers or horizons similar to the platiniferous reefs in the Stillwater and Bushveld complexes. The upcoming drill program is essential to confirm widths, grades, and continuity of presently-known PGE occurrences.

The Union Bay prospect is a joint venture between Quaterra Resources and International Freegold Mineral Development Inc. Quaterra may earn a 50% interest in the project by spending US$1 million on exploration and development and making staged cash payments totaling US$100,000 over the next four years.
