STEPHEN,
You can backup your sytem.ini then delete the offending reference.
If that works you're set if it doesn't change back to the original
system.ini. To see and edit system.ini in Win 9X
Start > Run > type in "msconfig" then click the system.ini tab.
If you need help viewing and backing up system.ini just let us us
know what operating system you are using then me or someone will
help you out.

Use FIND to locate this .VXD file. Use FIND to locate anything else from MCAFEE. Delete all found: both folders and files.

Back up registry, then use REGEDIT (Edit/Find) to locate keys referencing this file or MCAFEE. Export the keys, then delete them. If you make a mess, Import the keys to fix.

STEPHEN,
If regcleaner didn't solve your problem here's another thing to try.
The 'Diagnostic startup' option in msconfig. It loads drivers and
s/w one at time to help you figure out where problems are.
Me and probably everyone else here is so used going right to
the Startup tab making it easy forget msconfig's other features.

Good Luck
