EP, how long was it before you started getting nervous about the endless Itanium delays? I don't hold any of the chip companies to their word when it comes to delivery schedules, they are rarely on time. The P4 does seem to ramp ahead of schedule. I think intel is doing the right thing to soak up their excess production capacity. I am willing to give AMD the benefit of a doubt since this weak market might have put a crimp on their plans. My theory of the moment is that if they figured that Intel would force them to sub $100 ASPs they might as well collect those with the cheaper to manufacture tbird instead of the more expensive palomino. What's the sense in making a more expensive cpu if it ends up selling at the same price as a cheaper to make cpu? Of course this is all conjecture in my part, no one really knows what's going on in Jerry's head.
