When I worked with Ian Notley in the early 1990s, he had a road map that was drawn years prior, with 2000-2002 marked out as a "sell of a generation" for financial assets as a class. Of course, this does not preclude bounces a long the way, and I think the discussion on this thread goes from what happens tomorrow to big picture stuff, so it's confusing at times. My comments are generally made with an outlook of less than a week. At my old web site, towards the end of 1999, one of the regulars got so incensed with my "it's a sell of a generation set up" that he freaked out, and started his own site, and now in a section at his site it says this:"Back in 1999, I wrote a series of articles for a weekly column called "Technically Speaking" at another website. The proprietress of that site and I had an ugly falling out, after which she revoked my access and chat room passwords and, without notice, deleted all of my articles. Her behavior was not only rude but also senseless. Predictably in the months that followed, she set about methodically wrecking everything that was good about the place, disaffecting every other collaborator, and alienating a large audience of good people with her permanently cynical outlook." I guess he knows now that it was not a "permanently cynical outlook", but rather I was expressing my views as a market historian of sorts. He has now joined the Generation of Bagholders. I have endured a lot at SI. I remember at the top I was flamed like you won't believe, for telling people that it was a big time parabolic top. The more they disagreed, the more convinced I was that the bell was about to go off. And now, I can't find a single person around who thinks that this can bounce, not even in the short term. Anyway, for those who want to read really bearish stuff, there is a good site out there that does tons of mass marketing via U.S. Mail:safemoneyreport.com Teresa
