If the peak was early 2000, and if the previous bull is counted from 1982, the bear won't be over until perhaps 2005 or 2006. Stranger things have happened.

But even if 1987 (which John Templeton correctly called right at the time as "the shortest bear market in history") was the beginning, the end could be anywhere from 2003 to 2006. Put the two together and then end of 2004 looks probable.

Maybe I will roll my Dow LEAP puts over to then, when that becomes possible.
