I enjoyed that story and the fact the French adopted "sandwich" directly into their language.

"Nothing to be sneezed at". Centuries ago, it was presumed that sneezing cleared the mind. Then, during the 17th century, it became fashionable in high society to sneeze on demand. Snuff, a combination of herbs and tobacco did the trick. The sneezing at this time was to show disapproval or boredom. Therefore, "not to be sneezed at" was something extraordinary or interesting.
