I have never seen the Sopranos. We have cheapy cable, because I prefer to rent. Cable doesn't offer me the selection of foreign movies that my local video stores do. And our Hollywood Video is big into offering independent "First Rites" movies. They have a whole shelf devoted to indy films. Some of them are charmingly bad. But occasionally I see the odd gem.

I was at the video store tonight getting the kids a movie and video game, and I found Friend of the Deceased for sale cheap. Wonderful movie. See it if your video store carries it. It is from the Ukraine.

Hi Win,

I've got "Yankee cable" and we don't get HBO. -g I've watched the first season on tape and generally liked it. You'll see if you decide to watch more that the producers seemed to have struggled over time with how to balance the teddy bear vs. heartless hit man image of Tony Soprano. I haven't seen the second season yet (not available on tape in my area) but I've heard they toughened his image.

Nancy Marchand was unbelievably good. Just amazing! I loved here way back on the Lou Grant show. The Sopranos is a wee bit thinner without her.
