Jon, your letter to BARRON'S is right on target. The switch to wireless as the communication medium of choice has to do with both convenience and content. Most people use the Internet for smaller scale communications--sending and receiving email, getting stock prices, weather reports, road directions.

While there may be a continuing market for large content, such as photos, video clips, etc., which can be accessed comparatively easily with a cable modem, by far the majority of data communications would be processed most easily and conveniently with wireless equipment. In fact, the trend right now is to do email messaging and other data access jobs with a PDA or cell phone with data access capability and corresponding memory to accommodate reasonably large data files.
