CB,

How big a sink do you have ? We usually have too much stuff. LOL.
1000 gallons of water ain't pennies on my water metre, plus heating it, plus I suspect it'd be more. We really do save a lot. Dishwasher runs 3 times a week unless we have company. The new ones are pretty efficient.
3 meals a day ? or do you save them all up for one big wash ? :o)

Maybe it's time for a time and motion study coupled with an in depth analysis of all resources consumed. LOL
All kidding aside it definitely saves us time, money and improves our quality of life, but to each their own.

BTW re Beer... noticed you mentioning the 'Pilsner Urquell' I get that one often up here along with a few Polish offerings, Okocim and Lezajsk. The Ruddles Best I mentioned previously is an English Ale with low 3.7% Alcohol so a King Can doesn't dent me :o). We also have a lot of good micro breweries up here now, Sleeman the biggest, Algonquin, Creemore (my current domestic favourite)... Keiths (an Indian Pale Ale) is pretty good and a pile of others. Oh yeah, can't forget Moosehead Eh! I like assortments.

"The Pilsner Urquell wasn't as good as I remembered it" I find that with lots of stuff more and more ... I thought it was age :o(

regards
Kastel

<I think it would take several lifetimes before I spent the $1K that Mq's dishwasher costs>

Three minutes a day x 365 days a year saved = 1100 minutes a year = 18 hours x $20 an hour [what you are worth] = $360 a year. Then, add soap, water, electricity, environmental and other savings. Not to mention I bet it takes you more than 3 minutes a day to keep your dishes and bench clean. You'll pay it back in the first year! Not to mention it's nice to have it available when you really don't want to do dishes but there they are!!! Or you don't have time.

Capital of $1k with a depreciation of 10 years and no maintenance costs and return on investment of 10% [beats bank rates] means your best investment right now is a DishDrawer. Not shares! Not US$.

Are lawyers really only worth $20 an hour in the USA? Opportunity cost matters too...
