NYTimes front page lead story today "World Economy Slows to a Walk in Rare Lock Step"

OT Thread:
These are the times when the international nature of the crisis forces world leaders, political and economic, to take bold action. Tomorrow the fed deals with interest rates. With world wide recession here (and make no mistake the drop off in growth is more radical than in most if not all recessions), the situation must be reversed before the fragile international political system leads to renewed conflicts as countries fight over the whats left of prosperity. Greenspan is an internationalist, and i am wondering what will come tomorrow from the fed. What i do know is that a further collapse of the markets will turn a slow growth recession into a severe world recession. Just as in 2000 the markets direction needs to be changed. Dont ask me how. These are just comments. mike
