Thank you for the lengthy Barron's article, which is well researched. However, the fact that Barron's lacked technical understanding is obvious. DSL can broadcast TV media, technically.

So, local telcos have 99% penetration(wired and usable for DSL), while cable has between 30-40% penetration(wired and usable for many more services yet to be offered) will determine the future revenue shares of add-on services. Granted that cable customers are more well heeled(better per capita income).

Still DSL using multi access technology can win cheaper services to more homes without as much layout of cash(equipment investment).

To ARRS, local telco's DSL is just like headend cable modem. They can pick up more customers around the world.
