No idea what the problem with decimalization coud be. I see no statitical effect. The portfolio structure is certainly important as you will want to know at what you actually look at.

I think if you look at the whole economy, take the market portfolio, maybe W5k for breath.

For industries one should probably count out the indexes' breaths, e.g. for SOX, BKX.

Or perhaps create an SI model portfolio of what you think is representative for your idea, sort it by performance and count it out...

As I'm not to suscribed to a data service that could faciliate this comfortably, I just look at the various charts that the others bring up...
