Rising above provocation has nothing to do with turning the other cheek. Ignoring insults and focusing on whatever issue is at hand is not only polite, it is a very effective debating tactic. The cool prevail. We all have hot buttons. We all have the ability to control our responses when those buttons are pushed. Whether or not we use that ability is up to us to choose. I don't think I've anything else to say on the subject. I hope I am more successful in my next attempt to stay out of here, an attempt that I think will start right now.
