Gottfried,

When does the fiscal year end for the mutual funds for tax purposes. My understanding was that like everyone else they are taxed on a calander year earning. But according to the following article,

dailynews.yahoo.com

mutual funds are taxed on Oct 31 fiscal calander. That means that september, october are last two months for tax selling for the funds. Since, many stocks such as jdsu, emc, txn, ntap are way down for the fiscal/and calender year, these are good targets for tax selling. I would be very reluctant to make any major bets for the next two months except for short term trading. If tax selling plays an important role this year then we may be looking for another bottom in next couple of months.

PS: I am happily st trading and writing covered calls. This will again I will write some more.

**OT***Strange qualifications/disqualifications for Heroes.....

The article you posted mentions J.F. Kennedy.....and seems to concentrate on his sexual flings, while ignoring his Heroic Actions in WW II, as commander of PT 109. So that brings up an important question ...should a person's heroic actions, be set aside because of his sexual desires for diversity.

I would have hoped that the article would have concentrated on heroic acts rather than on character blemishes.
