Neenny:

What a great bit of trivia regarding the meaning of "sleep tight". Then there's the expression, "he must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed" to describe someone grumpy or out of sorts. The expression dates back to the middle ages when it was thought that anything on the left side was sinister, of the devil. People got up on the right side of their straw beds to avoid the devil. There was another ritual around that time of a person getting up on the opposite side of the bed from the side he'd gotten in on, completing an imaginary magic circle. Seems strange, but we still use those expressions. What the heck, I think I'll try that tonight. lol
