WOW!

I just ordered it. It sounds wonderful, Thanks so much for mentioning it. I have many friends who are going for a multisubject/Special ed credential. I've never heard them mention that book, so I will make sure I let everyone know about it.

Have you ever read Jonathan Kozol? Savage Inequalities : Children in America's Schools was one of the first books I had to read in my education program. I have never read a more moving book. I know I mentioned it, but maybe not to you. It isn't a feel good book, but it is a great book.

Solon-- I wanted to tell you, but didn't want to do it on That Other Thread, how much I enjoyed your posts this morning, in particular the lioness and the jackal fable and the one on the various definitions of life. They were thoughtful and thought-provoking, well-written and entertaining.

So I am glad I saw you here-

I envy you your ability to sleep. I have lost it. I watch Myers the Cat stretched out along the top of the couch like a long furry boa and am consumed with jealousy.
Sometimes I wake him up, just out of meanness.
But he just yawns, stretches, and smugly returns to sleep-- cats are cruel and heartless animals.

I thing that book may be more like 30 years old, I read it in high school I think (Reader's Digest Condensed version). Oops, I just looked it up, 1964 was before high school. Odd.

I also had a course by Bruno Bettelheim in college, but that's another story.
