If in the future I say you have repeated "mentioned" something or other (that you have not mentioned, but that i find it useful to pretend you have) you will, then, I presume, not then mention that you did NOT say that? In ordinary life, if one reports that someone has "mentioned" something repeatedly to one, the conclusion drawn by everyone on the planet will be that the person has said it or written it to one. Except of course by you, jla, brees, and Bill. You will have some other impression of what was meant.
