How do you arrive at that ? SONIC blue is losing money big time and is therefore selling their UMC shares on an ongoing basis. From their latest financials:

As of June 30, 2001, SONICblue's 214 million UMC shares were worth
approximately $285 million, based on the closing price of UMC shares on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on that date and the U.S. dollar to New Taiwan Dollar exchange rate prevailing on that date.
