Well, I think now I would ask you to, either the ones in the PM or the ones I posted publicly, I can't remember which cites I posted which places, because they might give you some additional insight on the controversy you've been having with brees et. al. Did she also mention that she had a distaste for justice? I'll leave it up to you and your sense of fairness whether her feeling that the death penalty should be retained as long as no more than 30% of the persons put to death are innocent could fairly be interpreted as expressing a distaste for justice. As a member of AI, I think if a third world dictator took such a position, you would not look kindly on it. Or would you? Anyhow, the question isn't whether in fact she has a distaste for justice or not, but whether on the basis of her posts it was a fair comment to said she had mentioned same. Two very different questions; it's perfectly possible to believe that in reality she has a very strong sense of justice while at the same time admitting that she has made posts that could reasonably be construed as expressing a distaste for justice. Similarly, you can believe that in reality she has a strong appreciation for human value while at the same time admitting that her posts supporting cannibalism and claiming to wish she could put her neighbors' heads on poles head-hunter style could reasonably be construed as expressing a distaste for human values. I leave those questions up to your analysis, asking only that you think about them with your AI hat on, not just your defender of X hat on. I am almost through on this board, and with this crowd, I hope that isn't true. Society in general is becoming more polarized and having less inter-communications; it will be a loss if SI turns into the same and it's just that group over there and the other group over the other place and no meeting ground anywhere inbetween. As I posted to SR, this board seems to be at this point the main meeting ground where people of widely different opinions can still post to each other without being moderated off the board for expressing the "wrong" opinions. The "ends of the spectrum" groups are getting more polarized as they get more agressive about moderating out anyone who disagrees with them, whether or not the've ever posted anything objectionable on those particular threads. (I, for example, was moderated off a thread I had never posted on, and jla has done the same with his thread.) That's simply a prescription for the end of robust discussion. But robust discussion is a cornerstone of a free society. We need places where people meet and hash out issues, even if sometimes contentiously. If you leave here, you take away one more girder from the bridge of communication between the left bank and right bank. When enough girders are gone, the bridge collapses, and that's it for any hope of communcation. Which would be sad. So please don't go. Besides, what will your ARTEESTE do without you???
