Fujitsu will reportedly cut 10% of workforce or 15,000 jobs Semiconductor Business News (08/19/01 21:14 p.m. EST) TOKYO -- Hit hard by the IC downturn, Japan's Fujitsu Ltd. will reportedly close some overseas plants and cut its worldwide workforce by 10%, or 16,400 jobs, according to a reports from Reuters. Fujitsu also plans to close down some manufacturing plants in North America and Asia, according to the reports. By next May, the company will slash about 11,400 overseas jobs and 5,000 more positions in Japan, the report said. The company has already elimated 2,000 jobs, they added. The company's problems revolve around losses in its chip, PC, and other operations. Last month, it forecasted a staggering $1.83 billion consolidated net loss for the year to next March.
