which means that whatever inaccuracy there may be does not effect the substantial truth of what he said.

I know perfectly well what "not essentially inaccurate" means. I'm not picking at "quotes" vs. "mentions" vs. "characterizations." I'm talking about the essence of X's expressed attitude toward justice, for example. In that example you posted to me I saw pragmatism, cynicism, realism, maybe some of your personal favorite, nihilism. I saw no distaste.

One of the reasons I've pursued this line is that I relate to most of what X says on these subjects. I wouldn't frame things quite the way she does, but I relate to her underlying notions. If you say that X has a distaste for justice, then you're saying that I do, too. And I know that's not the case. I do not question her distaste for some of the folks with whom she has argued, but I think you're way off to characterize her as having a distaste for justice.

But I've never been skewered by X, at least not intentionally. And it's not my emperor that she claims has no clothes. So perhaps you and I just can't see things the same way.
