Regarding a reasonable rate for wireless data access, in this rural area of upstate New York, there is no direct line to any major ISP without using long distance lines. Using an ISP with a local line costs an extra $17.95 per month, on top of the charges levied by a major ISP. Given the convenience of wireless, I would not object to paying an additional $20 per month on top of the regular fee charged by Verizon for wireless voice service in this area.

I think many potential customers would see wireless data access as a desirable value added feature for their current voice-only wireless service (or limited, slow speed data access for stock prices, etc.). The only problem is that companies like Verizon tend to introduce new services only when they're good and ready (usually to stop others from upsetting their virtual monopoly). The local cable company, Adelphia, has just introduced its cable modem service. I suspect they will get a number of takers just because Verizon is so slow in reacting.

Jon, the CDMA mobile [or static] data prices will be set by the same companies who set the Globalstar prices. You will not like the prices they set. When competition gets going, the prices will come down.

PS: The main thing wrong with your Barrons letter is that you don't write enough of them, or in SI [about Eurodollar eurobond future funds flow LEAP option calls - as you can see, I have been studying those financial derivatives with a view to making a killing; I'm going to buy some eurodollar degree-day put option futures]
