I agree, "it's a crazy idea."

After telling the world that Economic conditions had improved sufficiently to only warrant a 1/4 point at the last meeting, it would be inconsistent to imply that Economic conditions have worsened such that 1/2 point is deemed best, but the outlook is so good that the bias is removed.

That kind of inconsistency is more likely to convince the market that the entire Fed board of governors has taken complete leave of their senses -- not something that would produce a favourable response, IMO.

Mike, Greenspan needs to make a big impression.

I am thinking what the Allies did for D Day, they knew they wanted to win, and the possibility could be lost if not enough forces where employed.
So the Allies had so many more forces and supplies then was needed for equal or equivalent support. The team put four or five times the material and people than the Germanys had defending the coast. I would not have called it a "Lead Pipe Synch". Not to say it was easy, but the Allies just had more body to put in front of guns than the Germanys had people to pull the triggers and bullets to come out the pointy end.

The Allies wanted to win and overwhelmed the enemy, they did. That is what Greenspan needs to do. Stop inching down without making any real effects.

GreensMan, you must go out there and kick some butt, takes some names and let God settle it out if you were right or wrong.

Be wrong or be right, but you must be decisive.
