Today's 1% climb on the SOX lowered the number of oversold semiconductor stocks by 11 stocks. There are according to my screen now 46 oversold semiconductor stocks. This number may increase or decrease rapidly based on FED action tomorrow and Alan Greenspan's often dour commentary.

More importantly the Semi Book-to-Bill numbers are not likely to show a gain in bookings as Don has already alluded to in his previous post. Where do we get some reason to climb back higher? MSFT says XP will be realeased on time.

Ballmer Says Windows XP Could Be Ready on Friday

dailynews.yahoo.com

AO PAULO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said on Monday he expects the final version of the software giant's Windows XP (news - web sites) operating system will be finished this week.

Speaking at a technology conference in Sao Paulo, Ballmer said he expected XP would be ready on Friday and that production of the new system could then start next Monday.

A spokesman at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond, Washington, would not comment on Ballmer's statement, but said that Windows XP was on track for an October 25 retail launch.

Microsoft is eager to get Windows XP out the door because it is facing increased calls from rivals and privacy groups to change the product, which integrates new features like instant messaging and online authorization.

Microsoft shares rose 1.33 percent to $62.7 on Monday.
