"Morgan has SSE, so doesn't this excite anyone here that Fab 25 is cranking out 1Ghz SSE chips?"

If this were anything different than expected, then it would be more exciting. We know that AMD can make 1GHz Tbirds in Austin, I have one. Given the smaller L2 cache, AMD likely could turn out Sptifires as fast as 1.2GHz, definitely should be able to do 1.1GHz. Now since the Athlon4 cores use about 20% less power than the Tbird cores, the Morgan should be able to do better than that. AMD is planning to get about 30% more speed out of the Palominos than the Tbirds, so they should be able to get maybe 1.3GHz or 1.4GHz out of a Fab25 Morgan. Now that would be something...

Maybe I'm missing something..

A couple things...Celeron stills seems to be outselling Duron handily and at a higher price in the retail channel at least.. Let's face it...compared to a Duron, the Celeron sucks. Only thing I can attribute it to is Intel subsidizing OEMs advertizing budget and OEMs not wanting to PO Intel.
Again, AMD fails in building brand recognition.

OTOH, a 1000 Mhz Morgan is probably the best deal in chipdome.

Somewhere along the line the P-III becomes the "Celeron", however, maybe even retaining the 256k L2 cache as Intel moves the P4 into the mainstream...

Does it excite you that AMD is about to lose the edge in the Duron line because Morgan does not seem to scale well - this just at a time when Intel is moving Tualatin Celerons.

<Maybe I'm missing something>

Yup! Connection with reality.
